At The Maltings, we believe that being part of a community means more than caring for the people within our walls. It means caring about the world beyond them too. That’s why we’re delighted to announce our charity partnership with the RNLI, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, for the year ahead.
The RNLI is one of the UK’s most loved and most vital charities, saving lives at sea entirely through the generosity of volunteers and donors. What many people don’t realise is just how much it costs to keep those volunteers safe and ready. When Bob Taylor from the RNLI visited us for our opening event at The Maltings, he helped us understand the true investment behind every call-out — kitting out a single volunteer with the equipment they need costs £1600. That figure brought it home to all of us just how important fundraising support really is.
At The Maltings, we’re committed to doing our bit. Throughout the year, our residents, families, and team will be coming together for a variety of fundraising events right here at the home. From summer fetes and afternoon tea fundraisers to raffle draws, quiz nights, and sponsored activities, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to get involved, have fun, and make a real difference.
Our partnership got off to a wonderful start at The Maltings‘ opening celebration, where Bob presented Josh Fisher, Managing Director of Fisher Care Group, with some very special gifts for Josh’s young son: his very own miniature life jacket and an RNLI Lego set. It was a lovely moment that captured exactly the spirit we want to carry through everything we do this year.
“From the moment we opened our doors, we wanted The Maltings to be a home that gives back. The RNLI does incredible work — every single day, volunteers put themselves in harm’s way to save lives at sea, and they do it entirely off the back of public support. When Bob came to see us and explained what it costs to properly equip one volunteer, it really struck a chord with the whole team. We’re so proud to be supporting such a vital cause this year, and we can’t wait to get fundraising properly under way.”
